Description

BM Dooney Farms will provide 2 hrs of Honey Bee/Pollinator Education. Program includes:

Portable-Live-Hive

This features a portable honey bee colony housed in box with plexiglass observation windows allowing the inner workings of the bees to be observed. Students learn about honey bees by viewing them hard at work inside, and can even get a sticker if they find the Queen! This program allows people to get up close to the bees without fear of being stung, as the bees are sealed in the portable hive and cannot escape.

Bee-Box-Painting

This is a hit for people of all ages! We provide all the materials needed to express your inner artistic talents decorating the hive boxes that we use in our apiaries located across the St. Lawrence County communities. We provide non-toxic washable crayon sticks in almost every color under the rainbow, making it easy to clean-up & less messy. Bring your creativity & bee ready to paint!

Honey-Tasting

Everyone loves to taste fresh honey, and we provide samples (0.5 oz) to anyone that wants to try it.

Service may be subject to travel cost for locations greater than 60 miles from BM Dooney Farms.

Available June-September.

  1. North Country Children’s Museum

We were so glad to have BM Dooney Farms come do a program at the North Country Children’s Museum.
The children learned so much from Arden and Marnie who were excellent presenters and kept the learners engaged with their hands-on activities. The Peek-A-Bee bee box drew crowds of kids to come look at bees up and close without any fear or concerns. The educators explained the importance of pollinators, the interdependent web of life, and how honey is produced. Finally, the students tasted some fresh organic honey and painted bee boxes and expressed their creative talents. Overall, a great program, highly recommended.

BM Dooney’s honey simply tastes the best. Local, fresh, organic, and reasonably priced, it’s a win win situation. Support our local farmers and farms and do try their products.
